A Fistful of Dragoons (early 1920s)

Post by djbuck1 »

Apologies to Sergio Leone.

Just some file pics. But now I'm hoping to see, "For a Few Dragoons More," from you guys.

Post `em!

Fantastic group there. Thanks for sharing!

DIdn't know Izhevsk was still making Mosins in 1981!

Some photos of a 1921 Dragoon I picked up this summer. No import or Finn marks. Bore is good, but dirty. Barrel had a good bit of pitting, but I don't think any of it is deep enough to make it unsafe to shoot...there's just a lot of pitting. Bolt head was dented and dirty. Stock has some sort of brown coating on it. 1921 tang date.

More pics of the 1921 Dragoon. For some reason, the stock has a repair on the underside. Also, I cannot screw in a cleaning rod. I'm guessing something broke off in the channel or in the cleaning rod retaining nut (which won't come out of the stock).

That's a very nice 1921.  I think that the "varnish" or whatever it is was applied by the Spanish. Yours looks like my SCW Dragoons. And I have the same issue with the cleaning rod on any number of my rifles. I just leave it alone and remove the rod before firing. I'm not sure if the problem can be remedied, and that lug is definitely not coming out of the stock.

A few people have stated it looks like an SCW rifle. I bought a bore scope from Ebay which should be arriving soon. Hoping I'll be able to get a good view of the channel to determine what is blocking it.
