“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

Oh yea, spending all my money buying '03's kept me out of trouble 20-25 years back. Nice grouping of rifles.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I run across one Remington per every twenty Springfield or Rock Island.

Murphy was an optimist.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an
invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, conn a ship, write a
sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the
dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve an
equation, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a
computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.

Re: Remington 1903 pics
If you had your choice of which to shoot, and ammo price was not a consideration, would you rather have one of these, a Mosin 91/30, or something else from this era? Cool collection I had a P-17 but not got around to an 03-A3 yet...

I could be accused of being a "homer", but honestly, I like shooting the 1903 vs a Mosin Nagant. The fit, balance and general feel of an '03 tip the scales for me. Don't get me wrong, I have owned and shot about every variation of Mosin Nagant and I do like them. For me, the MN's straight bolt is a little more awkward to work. I have two MN's with the bolt handle lengthened and turned down, doesn't seem to help- the action tends to bind anyway. The smooth operating Mosin Nagants I have are the older, pre WW1 rifles. Regardless, the U.S. M1903 edges 'em all out, my opinion only. Hope this launches a discussion....
