Thinking about getting a bipod for my 91/30. Seen the clamp on and the sling hole mounts on line. Who uses one and what do you recommend?

Yep, no need to hang crap off the end of your weapon, a sandbag is a good rest when shooting prone or bench, a sandbag does not scratch up the rifle or make noise.

Looking for something to shoot bench. Will look into the sandbags.

The best positioning for a rest is just forward of the magazine. That affects the barrel the least.

I found out today shooting with a bipod in an indoor range is not advised, at least if you're sitting in a chair. Because the shelf before you is narrow -- maybe a foot or so -- it's easy for a bipod to slip off. You're adjusting your sling, people behind you are talking to you, you're adjusting your chair and your stance. With a loaded Mosin, slipping off can be a catastrophe. Either use a sandbag, fire from a prone position, or get to an outdoor range. From here on out, I'm leaving the bipod at home, at least when I'm indoors.
