91/30 find at LGS

Post by ranman106 »

Went by one of the LGS after my wife's doctor appointment to show her what I found so interesting in collecting MN's. She was more interested in the .38 specials revolvers (she wants one next year for her concealed carry). Yes, God blessed me with a great woman!

As I'm picking through the mil-surp I keep thinking how prices have tripled since I did not renew my C&R. Then I find HER!! A 1934 91/30 Hex receiver Tula with some interesting stock repairs. The LGS wouldn't let me take pics stating something about sn's and BATF. Anyway, she is in great shape. Hand guard repairs on both sides. But, the most interesting to me is the stock repair. It looks like a shark bite (best way I can describe it). Can't wait to pick the girl up in May! :D

May? I hope that's a layaway and not a holding period. Good find, we await May and the pictures :)

Soviet splice job. You may get half a pre war and half mid war stock combo. Or whatever combination. Pretty cool and you don't see them often.

A very desirable stock repair variation. Been looking for one like it for some time. Nice score!

Very neat rifle, two 1934 Mosins posted here on the forum in one day. The first 34's I've ever seen myself.

Interesting repair. I see that and see the Finn splice and wonder which is stronger seeing how similar they are.

The sawtooth Soviet splice like that is really hard to find. If you can buy it without having to pay a premium it would be a good one to get.
