New guy's collection pics

Post by rsc »

I decided to pull out my Mosins to get an updated family picture and finally document rifles, s/n's and markings. I used to have more but after the big sell-off last year of the more common stuff, this is all thats left. The Finnish stuff is on the left, Russian on the right. There's also a Polish M44, a Mini-Mosin .22 and a Type 53.

Nice collection, too bad you got rid of the more common stuff, wars are fought by common people using common weapons. Welcome to the board :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Thanks. I wanted to get a litle more room in the safes so multiples like '42 and '43 Izhevsk 91/30's had to go. I kept stuff like the '43 M44 and even traded the Polish M44 in to move a 91/30 out although it doesn't really fit the collection.

Very nice.

Pick your favorite and take a bunch of detailed pics, start a new thread and show it to us. We enjoy looking at mosin porn.

I bet that your wife likes walking that gauntlet to use the facilities.

Where does your wife sleep, if I may be so bold? If I had THAT many weapons, they would HAVE to be in bed with me..........my closets would be filled................er.......they almost are!

My wife said all my rifles look alike. I told her all her shoes look alike. It was a standoff. Do you get that too? :chuckles:

I have asked this question before. If you were blindfolded, could you i.d. each rifle just by size, shape, maybe weight. Each weapon must have it's own characteristics. No two stocks are the same.

And yes, nice collection.

A Polish M44 fits a Mosin Nagant collection perfectly. It is a Mosin Nagant after al. and they're a bit more uncommon than the average Russian M44. Take it from a me, I'm Polish and know about this stuff. :D Oh and I have a Polish M44 too. Great rifle.

Yeah, I've got Mosinitis bad. I used to buy anything I could find when I started out. My reasoning was that they were all different, at least the s/n was different. My wife tolerates it, even helps joke about the s/n's being different.

Yeah, I go through a lots of Hoppes and oil. I've found that if oiled and not touched they keep for a good amount of time which is nice because when I go to clean them all its a week long task! I have the safes packed muzzle to buttstock.

I can tell some of them by feel, blindfolded. Some are lighter or heavier or have a rough stock or smooth finish. Even among identical models. My favorite depends on what day it is, currently its the beat up Finn M91 with 2 s/n's (a rifle s/n and CG??? s/n) and matching 2 s/n bolt. It was the 2 Instructie's the day before but since the rougher one has the buttplate/stock s/n'd to the barrel shank but no handguard and a scrubbed bbl shank compared to the "prettier" Instructie its a close call.
