M27 stock

Are there any M27 stocks to be had for a reasonable price? I have one that the forearm was shortened on but the rest of it is in great shape. I haven't found a line on a stock anywhere.

I have never seen a m27 stock for sale. The Finns didn't have enough and fitted m27s into m28/30 stocks

Very True! I have a line on a couple but I am sure they will not come cheap, like maybe $200 or so! Yeah I know you kind of get sticker shock at that price but if you want to play these days you have to pay I guess. I have even seen M27's in 91/30 stocks! They are few and far between. Let me know if you are interested at that price and I will see what is out there and what they want. I also need to know what end band you want, the popsicle stick or the single piece with through bolt one only. Bill

Hey Bill, I am looking for either the nose cap (with screw) or retaining screw for a 1st gen M-27 (non popsicle stick) I'm not sure which is stripped. If you come across such a thing, please let me know...

I picked one up at the Tulsa show last year. Some where around $80 for it. I saw a few M28/30 stocks. This was the only M27 stock with notches for the Popsicle stick re-enforcements that I have seen by themselves (no metal parts on the stock). I did the same thing, I bought a finn M27 "Bubba sporter" and then spent a year or so looking for a stock.

Interesting. I have an M28 that I am told is in an M27 stock (originally). The Finns used this stock when they "refurbished" the M28, so now it belongs to this rifle.

I have one of those M28/30 stock blanks with no metal and no holes drilled. I'm currently working on mating it to my only M28/30 which is an excellent shooter but has a delicate repurposed Imperial Russian stock. It has some cracks and a patch that's already loose so I don't want it to come off or make any cracks worse... but I do want to keep shooting it! Hence me hand fitting this rifle. I of course thought it would be much easier than it is. Drilling the holes for the buttplate screws, sling escutcheons, and barrel bands is the easy part. Fitting the action in the stock is the hard part, as well as fitting the hand guard under the barrel bands. It's not a slap together type of project. I'd go as far as to say that even a replacement handguard to another rifle will require sanding fitment. I'll post in the restoration forum when it's done for those that are interested. Of course the original stock and parts will go back on the rifle, but not until I'm done using it as a shooter. (ie I find another M28/30 that shoots nice and has a better condition stock)

I have an m27 in the showcase that is wearing a m28/30 stock. You can see the great work the Finns did to fit it. Very clean and professional looking.

On very rare occasions there show up even rare models of deactivated Finnish MNs on www.egun.de which might serve as a source for such a stock.

A stepped barrel 1927 tikka m91 would fetch a premium here in the US. Very desirable.

Thanks, Lee! I thought it was an M.24, but now I've learned something new - there are stepped-barrel M.91s also. They look rather similar for me, however, so I hope that' s an excusable error.
