P-26 Dragoon...

Post by Len S »

I stopped by a gunshop yesterday where I saw an interesting Mosin. It was a P series Dragoon. I had owned a P-26 M91 in the past but had sold it to a Finn fanatic friend. Went home last night to read up on these birds and discovered that not many P Dragoons were made. So back I went this morning , cut a deal with the shop and brought it home. She's in pretty good shape with a nice bore. Here are some pics.

Oh crap! Very rare. 8-) 8-) 8-)
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Showcase anyone?
On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.

+1 heck the made less than 1,500 of them. That alone should warrant a showcase nod.

Congrats and welcome to the club! Mine is in the 7xxx serial block and is more battle-worn than yours. I've never seen a picture on the internet of any other than mine, but know Tuco at Gunboards owns one, as well as a couple of others in Europe.
I'm actually glad another popped up as it gives mine some legitimacy that it wasn't a one-off
Keep in mind-the information available says 1500 barrels were produced, but it never said how many were actually assembled to receivers. I'm thinking most of them weren't assembled, leaving fewer examples to survive the war to be exported.

Congrats again on a great find - and don't let any of these wanna-be snake charmers talk you out of the rifle for chump change :bwink:
