I purchased a Tula 1938.
I think it is an ex sniper but I am confused as one of the drill holes is really far forward.
I can see where they fixed two of them but the third is almost at the end of the receiver and I can still see threads as they did not really plug it.
Or is it some gas escape hole or something?

It is not a PU sniper I do not think as the holes are all wrong.
The guy next to me almost bought it but he said the holes where wrong and it was missing a stamp.. But I can see the C and the inverted U... I am confused.

I would assume it's an Ex PEM sniper from the location of the holes.

Receiver date would fit as a possible ex-PEM sniper.

I have a 1937 Tula with the same holes and markings.

All the numbers match with Crylic Chars.
But a few pieces that do not have serial numbers have arrows in a triangle.....

It is like someone just starting grabbing Mosin pieces out of a pile and put it together.....

Also the barrel is beautiful! It does not have that thing where there is a wider opening at the end.. if you know what I mean.

That's because that is exactly what happened. It's a refurbished rifle and is made from parts of many other other rifles. This explains it better http://www.russian-mosin-nagant.com/ref ... index.html

Could be an ex PEM or something else entirely.... But I didn't realize that they drilled through the firing chamber The large repair in the center of the receiver is odd too.. I must admit I am not an expert on these snipers though.

What's wrong with the bayonet and stock? What are you planning to address by "restoring" it?
