The U.S. Surcharged production did not begin until nearly 300,000 units after that one was built. I have only seen three or four others before the 1.165 million serial number with the U.S. Eagles. One even had a curved logo. Just theory, but these early production rifles must have been left over at NEW when the U.S. Gov't purchased the final order.
So aside from being quite nice, it is an extremely rare occurrence.
