My First M39 (Lots a pics)

Well I am the proud new owner of my first M39. Clearly this one is well used, may have been used in the later days of the Continuation War, and probably issued post war. The receiver is the interesting part of this rifle. As you can see in the pics, it clearly had signs of rust as it is pitted and appears to be very old with no date on the receiver tang. It is my understanding the Chatellerault and US made receivers never had the date stamped on the tang. Although the tang is pitted, it doesn't appear the date was scrubbed as some M39s were. I would love to believe this is a French or US made receiver as those are rare. Also, it has what appears to be a blued extractor. Anyway, enjoy the pics and I will update this thread with a range report soon.

Very nice! Good score. That M39 feels good in your hands doesn't it?

Very nice looking rifle. :) you'll be very happy with it and how well it shoots. It almost looks like there is something on the tang, but I cant make it out... the reciever looks good too. Enjoy!

There does appear to be a mark of some type but it doesn't appear to be a date.

How can you go wrong with a m39? You can't.

I like the Chatellerault mag. First one I have seen.

Remember to report back after you have put a few rounds down range.

So this is a Chatellerault mag? Which one of the markings identifies it?

Both the C and the L. C is obviously Chatellerault and the L stamp is a unique style associated to Chatellerault and is a parts factory mark.

Awesome! So now I know there is at least one Chatellerault part on this rifle. Thank you.
