Thanks ,I wanted to fire it last weekend but it didn't happen, now I hear snow is coming for this weekend maybe, that's my luck. Oh well, it gives me another reason to look forward to spring :vcool:

That is one beautiful rifle. I haven't shot black powder since I was a kid. I have one sitting in the cabinet waiting for deer season now though.

Thanks, I waited 30 years to get one, I shoot a lot of black powder, Colt, and Remington revolvers, and my big bore military flinters. Might get a blunderbuss soon.

No problem, I almost got to shoot it today, then I ended up getting involved with some stuff around the place. I did get some shotgun practice in.

It is a special piece all right, I fired it five shots a few months back just to see how well it would shoot, I hit the paper all five times dam near center target about 4 MOA from 100 yards and I was just doing some offhand plinking without even a proper load worked up for it yet. These rifles need individual tuning in order to figure out what combination of bullet and patch they like along with what powder charge they like. When I have more time I will start to work up the load, with the current cost of ammo for the smokeless stuff I will be doing a lot more BP shooting.

I forgot how beautiful she is. WOW! What is the rifling setup in the bore? Obviously RH twist from the pic of the bore, but how many lands & grooves, depth, and rate?

39" long 1:70 twist I remember off the top of my head, the rest will have to wait until I have the rifle in hand :)

I forgot to mention that this is an early production Hatfield, not one of the later ones that used mostly Pedersoli parts and had blued barrels. This is a full made US Kentucky rifle.
