All-Original M91 New England Westinghouse w/ Stock Disk

Post by airbornetrooper »

By popular demand I present the following rifle, for those who have seen it elsewhere I apologize in advance:

Thanks to a friend in NC and a tip from another friend, I lucked into this New England Westinghouse. Almost all parts exhibit NEW proof marks. All bolt pieces match, and even the barrel bands have NEW proofs on them. The stock is an original NEW stock with the "English Contract" cartouche on the left side and the original matching buttplate. The only part is question is the magazine, which is has a "N" mark that I do not recognize. Interestingly, the barrel has not been counter-bored.

The right side of the buttstock has an even better surprise: the stock disk is present. This rifle is the first Finn I have acquired with an intact stock disk. The disk is marked "RUK 10 TK", which I believe an officer training unit (but feel free to correct me!)

This rifle must have been very lucky or hand some divine intervention by Finnish armorers to stay in its present state.

Very nice, My NEW Finn has a 1905 Tula receiver attached to it. The NEW barrel has a bore that is as close to spotless as can be found, looks like it was never fired. I always wonder why they took it off it's original receiver, but some questions will never get answered. :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Ahh! I have been waiting for this! So very nice and so original too. Is that a non-jam-free mag assembly or is the notch on the other side I can't remember. That baby has seen the elephant for sure I would say. Thanks so much for sharing it with us! That is the kind of rifle which tells a story and gets nothing but more value over the years you will collect. Congrats on finding it and I am sure as the years go along you will see value and appreciation for it go up tremendously. Bill

This is a real gem. For it to have retained all those parts and even the stock disc, yet still have the look of battle experience, to me that is really special.

Wow, what a great find! That is one to hang above the mantle for sure. Love the character of the stock.

I do find it Interesting that the fonts on the bolt are different from the butt-plate.

Besides M27's the vast majority of Finned rifles with disc that I have seen are NEW's, any rifle still retaining its brass unit disc catches my attention, nice piece!

Ok, what letter is on the top of the receiver tang? Since the bolt is E for East Springfield, that should be the letter if it is truly original matching.

Yep, it has the E with the arrow there as well. Thanks for catching that Homer. Now I can say truly all-matching
