Laminate M91/30s

Post by optikalillushun »

Anything special about the laminate stock 91/30s? Dunhams has them marked down for end of the year sale until Feburary 1st and its a good price i think ($159.99 i think). I was thinking of getting an Izhevsk arsenal if they have one to go with my Izhevsk M44.
To many to list, many more to get, not enough money :-D

Laminated stock Mosins have always sold for a bit more than hardwood ones. Get it and post pics :)

My first 91/30 was a laminate from a local gun show for $150. 1933 hex receiver, heavily refurbed with the flat bluing and black paint on the metal. Gret bore though, and a good shooter. Personally I wouldn't pay a premium for a laminate unless it grabs you as the right one, or you want one for the collection.

I spotted Laminate stock 91/30s for $129.99 on J & G Sales last night. Special price for this week I guess. :2cents:

I saw that too. Looks like are still at $129.99, over 400 left. May have to order one as I don't have one laminate in the bunch.

Some of the guys really like the laminates. They are popular with some because they are different and when in good shape, very nice looking in addition to being somewhat uncommon. I have a couple of laminate 91/30's and several carbines. When I sit them down and compare, I really prefer the birch stocks though. Every collector should have at least one because they are part of the history of these rifles. $159 isn't too much for them and if you want one, you should purchase it. Dunham's probably has them on sale because they couldn't sell them at $200. Go look at the rifle. If it talks to you, buy it.

Soviet laminate is beautiful stuff - my collection includes a 1943 M38 with original late 1943 beech laminate stock, 1944 M44 with original early 1944 birch laminate stock, 1943 Tula PU sniper in a birch laminate stock, late Tula and Izhevsk SKS rifles with laminate stocks, and 4 Soviet AKM parts kits with the laminated stocks.

You could assemble quite an interesting and impressive collection of Soviet rifles just based on the laminate stocks. Everybody should have at least one Soviet laminate stock - preferably many of them.

Laminated stocks just plain look cool. When I bought my first 91/30 a few years ago, lam stocks were all they came with.

I like that no two laminate stocks look quite the same...like a fingerprint pattern, wide color range as well. I have two and both are dark red.

I'm assuming it's been on this forum before, but since I'm new, where is the next meeting of Mosin's anonymous? Do they sell the Mosin Big Book there?
Thanks in advance for any directions.
