Finn marked M1891 rifle, nice deal, welcome to the board.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Thanks for the input. This is only the second 91 I have purchased that was sold as a 91. All the others were sold as 91/30 rifles. I have never passed on one of those, ever. Has led to buying a few rifles over the years. I really enjoy shooting cast bullets out of these rifles. The best cast shooters seem to be the post war M-39 rifles. I don't have any Model 27 or 28 rifles -- people with those rifles seem to know the score and set the price accordingly. Only have one 91 with a WWI german capture stamp on the receiver. It is a Tikka and shoots well. I will try now to post a photo of the underside of the receiver. Has more stamps than any of my others. Guess that comes with age.

Very Nice :thumbsup: and saving 20% is super also. Welcome to the RMNF. Good find, wonder why you let it sit there for two years? Judi and her Mosin's ;mywink;

There is no "D" stamp on the barrel. I have never seen the "4" stamp just hanging out there. I have seen 41 stamps, just not a 4. These things are so interesting.
