I tend to use the Brown Bear, in my rifles it's pretty close to GT and maybe even a touch better. If you want Golden Tiger though, SGAmmo looks like they have some in stock.

If you use a Bear ammo, I'd go for the Silver Bear, that eliminates any lacquer issues which can arise. Brown Bear is ok, just clean the chamber good when done to remove any lacquer residue.

At least thats my experience from it, my Bear ammo is older, I don't know if they ever did the polymer style coating on it or not like others have changed to. Also, it was nice and dirty

TulAmmo is the only 7.62x39 I've ever used, never had an issue.

Tulammo is also sold under Wolf and Herters name, some early lots had issues with popped/pierced primers in SKSs. But, it's cheap and does go bang. I tried in in my Vz 58, cause I got it cheap and it worked fine in it, but I never tried it in an SKS.

Tula ammo huh? Well, over the years I have had a bunch of SKS. I have found Tula to have up and down quality problems. Like mentioned, pierced primers, two squibs in the last 5 years, a bullet here and there that can be pulled out of the case by hand, and some that had very little powder in them. If you want cheap Tula from Walmart, use it. But you best be sure you listen to every shot to be sure that bullet is out of the barrel.

I like Wolf Military Classic and the Yugo M67 Surplus. Brown Bear is excellent also. Most of BB has the polymer coatings for last several years. SG usually has both case finishes available.

Cheapest is the least likely to be the safest to me.

Paul6892, I've used it in ak's and sks'. The way I look at it, there's no reason to pay $1 more a box for herter's etc., when it's all the same ammo

Wolf seems to be a tad bit cheaper than Golden Tiger. It’s in stock at AIM. I’ve used Golden Tiger and Wolf in my AK. Not sure why either would not work fine in an SKS.
