Do you ever

Post by Vendetta »

Do you ever go to another forum and read a thread about refinishing a Mosin and physically get angry inside? "Well the shellac was a little beat up so..." is my kryptonite. I mostly refrain from responding unless someone has defiled a rarity, but MAN it irritates me.

Relax, :chuckles: they have their forum to set "rules" as they wish. (but I understand completely)

That is why we are in existence here, so you don't get all agitated.......

Take one pill and make a few posts (here) and call me in the morning.......Oh, and stay off the other forums! :bwink: :chuckles: :chuckles:

That's one of the reasons I no longer go on THR. Though when I was on it, some good came of it; I got White Horseradish to join here, and made a good friend in the process.

No. I agree with Stopsign. It all depends upon what is being done/contemplated.

Full disclosure: one of my Mausers had some sort of black . . . stuff . . . on it. It really looked like some Ivan or Constantine had run out of red shellac, and decided that pre-war tractor paint-- or something from the crankcase-- would do just as well. Off it came. Have I "ruined the history of the gun?" Arguably, yes. But for that rifle, the final chapter looked to be: Entombed In Reeking, Carcinogenic Waste.

No.

I also have to say that I believe in private property. I may question someone's judgment, but it is his/her property.

I don't get mad. However-- and again depending upon what has been done-- I may experience a range of emotions. Those can include: Appalled. Taken aback. Incredulous. Mystified.

But not mad. Generally, I avoid holes in the road, my ex wife, or anything else that will invite further stent placement.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing acceptable about permanently altering a Military surplus rifle, ..... and that includes refurbished Mosins.

And of coarse it is their property to do as they want too. No one here or anywhere has ever said differently.

But if you want me to condone it just because it is yours, you came to the wrong person.

See the same shit over and over again for 40 or more years and you get used to it, you don't grow to like it, but it loses it's ability to shock you. It's always the same shit, or variations on the same old shit.

Oh, we would never taint you in the ways of BUBBA, we just taint you with a severe case of milsurpitis that leaves you destitute for decades but in possession of a sizable firearms collections as you slowly starve to death :devil2: :devil2: :devil2:

If their rules allow it I don't get mad. Sad, but not mad. If their rules don't allow talk of modification but they just let it slide then it gets irritating quickly.

Yes, I travel abroad in other places, but once thoroughly sick and disgusted, I mean it is kinda like torture porn :big shock: , I return back here for my sanity.
Sometimes the travel even helps cleanse the colon, just beware, do not drink the water :chuckles:

That's funny. I saw a cooking show recently where they made a bacon margarita. Tastes like chicken.
