TOP 10 REASONS TO LOVE YOUR MOSIN NAGANT
1) Your sight adjustment goes to 12 miles and you've actually tried it.
2) You can hit the broad side of a barn, from 3 counties over.
3) Service life, 100 years, and counting.
4) Your bayonet can safely reach your foe without the inconvenience of leaving your position.
5) Your rifle won a pole vault event.
6) You can knock down everyone else's target with the shock wave of your bullet going downrange.
7) When out of ammo, your rifle makes a supreme war club, pike, boat oar, tent pole, etc.
Recoil is often used to relocate shoulders thrown out by the previous shot.
9) After a long day at the range you relax by visiting the chiropractor.
10) Your muzzle flash can be used to instantly roast fish and small game.
To many to list, many more to get, not enough money :-D

You catch someone creeping around the house at 2am, when the bullet passes through his body it might hit the TV, or make a hole in the wall so you reverse hold and slam him in the head with the steel buttplate instead. Options, another reason to love the Mosin :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

It can sit in the back of a closet for 20 years and be ready to go as soon as you need it.
