1932 Mosin Nagant decoding help

Post by willzilla »

Yesterday I had a 1932 Mosin Nagant delivered to my door (loving the C&r FFL). It seems to be in fantastic shape overall with matching numbers. I do have some questions on decoding it though.

It appears to be a 32 Izhevsk but a Tula star stamp I believe is what is on that bolt carrier group.

Also confused on the date.. It days 1932 and then what looks like a squarish letter C at the end of the date?

I also see no symbol above the serial number like what I thought was on Izhevsk Mosins?

Here are a large number of pix of my new rifle :-)...

It's a 1932 Izhevsk. The Г after that is a Russian letter abbreviation for year. Mismatched parts are common on refurbished rifles. Welcome to the Forum

Awesome, thank you for the info! That's what I thought and the r looking letter threw me off because of the little dash under it :-D

But yep, should be a great shooter which is what I got it for... Lots of shooting! Have some milsurp ammo and new manufactured ammo both on the way to my door, can't wait to shoot.

I wonder where it fought the war at? That is what always facinates me about them......history . This one along with most Mosins have a great history.

My very first Mosin was a 1937 Tula M91/30 and I paid $59 for it........How much are they worth now? Give then 10 years and ask again. :bwink:

Nice looking rifle.

You got a nice one. So you say you are enjoying the C&R? It is nice to have it sent to your doorstep for sure.

Thanks all. And yeah.. The C&R Def makes things easy and saves money on not having to pay transfer fees and the like.

My first purchase was a 52 Romanian Tokarev TTC that I then put Tokagypt grips on:

Tokarov is a fine weapon, congrats! Now the real reason I posted! What did you take the picture of the Tokarov on? That wood while showing scratches and wear is really nice so I just had to ask? Bill

That '32 is a honey bun! Enjoy it!

I have a Romanian Tokarev as well. A 1956 model I got from Widener's. When they said almost mint, they weren't kidding. I've got a picture somewhere of it fresh out of the box.

Thank you! I plan on it. Just checked and it's not counterbored so that's a plus. Rifling looks strong entire length of the barrel too.

The cocking piece is tula. Thats pretty common for parts and pieces to be swapped around during refurb.

I noticed after cleaning up the mosin some minor exterior barrel pitting. Is there a simple way to treat this so it won't get worse or repair it?
