The stock disk marking looks naval. The "O" meaning it was assigned to the eastern fleet.

Thanks! I thought I remember something on disk tied it to the Navy, but when I pulled it out I couldn't remember what it was :D

Not so lucky here so I traded her off, haven't found a replacement yet but the gun collection is growing unimpeded. I figure I had better get what I want before I lock in with a new SWMBO.

Back on-topic: There's some real beauties posted here, K98 is on my unicorn list.....still looking.

hooking up with a SWMBO is always a bad idea. Been with my Spectacular Wife 28+ years now... She wishes my collecting be curtailed for now & I agree.

Im new to the forum and saw this post and couldn't resist showing my growing k98k collection. Only one is matching and most are restored sporterized rifles. I like the forum!

Here's my DOT 43. Pretty much like the one on page 216 in Law's book "Backbone of the Wehrmacht". If he is correct, then this is one of the very last made in 1943. It has a few 1944 features, like the Triggerguard being marked BYF, not 214. It is all matching. The Handguard is marked on top "dot", something you don't see very often.

1940 660 Steyr. From what I read it is outside the known serial range. Missing Waffenampt Firing Proofs on Receiver. For whatever reason they were scrubbed rest all there. All matching except bolt but bolt matches itself.

My only K98k is a RC JP Sauer. I had a bolt mismatched Erma, a mismatched BYF, and an RC BSW. The JP Sauer is good enough for me right now. I really don't want to get too involved in the pricey habit of collecting K98ks. ImageImage

Well I'll get in this. I started out collecting German K98ks but you have to really know your stuff collecting them, one wrong number, one fake stamp and you've got trouble. :vconfused: I found Swedish Mausers to be far simpler, just as fun to shoot and far easier on the wallet so I went in that direction.

Anyway here's the two I have, both 37 Sauers. The mixmaster shooter is an L block and the bringback is an M block all matching but the front band and duffle cut under the back band. Some minor shrapnel damage to the bands and that area. Both have immaculate bores and the shooter has shot several 1.5" to 2.5" groups at 100 yds.

The bringback, stunning walnut stock. Hard to find a pre war K98k with a matching bolt.

The shooter, a mix of parts, RC bolt, Correct early Sauer stock. Still attracts a crowd with all the black plastic fans at my range.

Sarco early 90's import, has the manufacture markings, Dot 44, some barely readable Wehrmacht stamps and was at one point owned by Iraq I'm told. The stock may be maple, does not appear to be beach, stamped bands and winter trigger guard, the original site shroud was on it, the tip of the cleaning rod broke off. Only K98 I own though a regular shooter, it is pretty much dialed in and I can hit stuff with it still.
