Excellent movie suggestion: The Way Back

Post by bunkysdad »

The Way Back, released in 2010 & I stumbled across it the other night premiering on The Movie Channel. This movie in my opinion was so excellent that I wanted to post it here rather than the off topic for more exposure. It's the story of a group of guys imprisoned deep in the middle of Siberia to the slave labor of a Russian gulag. Lots of Mosins, correctly affixed with bayonets. I got a glimpse of a small bit of the type of history that these rifles that we so readily praise really possess. Jim, Junk Yard Dog has tried many times to convey the real horrors of the life in Soviet Russia when people fall on the wrong side of the party. Well this film gets it done! Watch it, rent it, buy it, download it, whatever it takes, but watch it and see if I am right.

It's a pretty far fetched movie and I never would have believed it if it wasn't based on true events. Amazing movie, good call Bunkysdad.

The movie is based on the book The Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz.
The movie is good, :vcool: but if you're a reader I'd recommend taking the time for the book!

I saw it on Netflix last year, good film.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I guess I watch maybe one film a year so the chances are I might look for the book. Yeah I know these things come online but I have nothing to download onto other than this broken down old computer and God forbid I should pay for it or any service that could give it to me. Bill the other generation! Watched it on Netflix - great movie. Only thing was I spent the better part of the movie working through my Mosinitis infected brain trying to figure out why I recognized Mr. Smith. Once I got past rooting for him in this movie I realized that I had spent all of Enemy at the Gates rooting against him. Weird how that works.
