What does force matched mean? I would guess the butt plate due to missing part of ID #

 Very nice laminate stock. Just picked up my first M44 this past weekend too. I'm still wearing my grin from its trip to the range. It's a PW Arms import (probably Molot, you can check for their stamp under the front hand-guard. Mine is too). You'll have a ton of fun with that flame-thrower...

Welcome to Mosin madness. Study up on cleaning properly, and google search force matched Mosin Nagant and you'll find plenty to read. Glad to have you with us. You bought a beauty.

Post war refurb. After the GPW, the Soviets took these guys and put them through a refurbishment process and stored them away, waiting for the great Western Invasion.
The stock was probably replaced and any metal (bolt, buttplate, magazine floor) that you see with the serial number (sans prefix), are replacements. It would have been dip blued and packed with grease.

The slashed box on the wood is a refurbishment mark and the barrel probably has a bisected box, which means the same thing.

Run of the mill M44, which means that you have a nice piece of Soviet history from the Great Patriotic War and a desirable carbine in prime condition. Nice.
