US model 1888 Round Rod bayonet Springfield 45/70
Springfield Armory 1892, this rifle is a New York State Guard rifle, was carried by a member of the 71st NY to Cuba in 1898. Spotless bore, it has the front sight hood and pistol grip attatchment, with a 45/70/500 load it will pick the eyes out of a knat at 200 yards or longer.

Thank you, this is a new post, I had it up over at the black powder forums, I was about to post it at the old forum when it's closing was announced, seemed pointless after that.

Great looking Springfield JYD. Does that bayonet reverse and fit in the forearm like a French MAS?

No, it slides out and locks to work as a bayonet, and will pull all the way out to use as a cleaning rod.

Beautiful rifle. The sight hood really stands out. You have a nice colllection of trapdoors for sure. This one looks priceless.

The sight hood and attached pistol grip are not ordinary issue, this was a marksmans rifle.
