Hi I am Walterb
I recently bought a Mosin at a yard sale for $150. I have since have been trying to become more familiar with Mosins. I have so far determined that it is a N.E.W. with the Imperial Eagle from Russia dated 1915 Ser#832912. It was apparently owned by the Finnish Army hence the SA stamp on the Hex reciever. I took it to the range and it fires fine just hits about 2 inches High and 4.5 inches left at 100 yards. Tried to drift the sight and ended up chipping the sight base. Would like to find a new or another blade sight for it. Does any one know where I can get one.

Liberty tree collectors has some Finn sight blades, banner at top of any board page, I do not know if they are still in stock. If that rifle is original and not altered into a hunting rifle you got a very good deal. Welcome to the board . If you damaged the base beyond use then you could have a problem, they are soldered in place, and may be difficult to find.

Howdy!

Looks like a great forum and I'm glad to be here. Linked below (hopefully) is a photo of a Mosin I got when I was in college. It has a SA stamp on the left side of the receiver.

Thanks,
Too Slow

Hi all,

I'm a new member from NE Ohio and am looking to get my first Mosin Nagant. I've been searching and haven't found anything available locally and I am hoping that more stock shows up soon at some of the big box stores or LGSs around here. There is some availability on-line, but I'd hate to buy one sight unseen. How's the availability in other parts of the country? Also, I have seen a few advertised on-line as "unissued". Does that mean not used? They are pretty pricey (around $450) but if it's never been used it might be worth it? They are "B" barrels with one with the serial number in the 48,000s and another with the serial number in the 23,000s. Any info about where I might find one would be helpful. Thanks!

Welcome to the board, sounds like you are talking about a Finnish M39, yes it is possible to find these in unissued condition, and the $450 price range sounds right for one. Excellent rifles, the M39 is the best shooting Mosin infantry rifle ever made. The Finns built them , at least most of the B barrels, after WW2 and used a few for training, the rest were put away. Availability of all Mosins can be spotty with all the panic gun buying going on these days.

Hey Ben glad you made it. You're in the right place. You should make a post here http://www.russian-mosin-nagant-forum.c ... um.php?f=5 in the main forum with a few more pictures. Like I told you when we talked on the phone, these guys love gun porn and they'll be able to tell you a lot more about it. Really nice rifle. Hey guys Ben is a new vendor addition on gun-deals and is the owner of Talon Training Group. We talked on the phone earlier today about milsurps rifles and he has a pretty decent collection that includes 12 Mosin Nagants among other things if I remember correctly.

I am currently on the look out for a M44. Hope to have one in a couple months at the latest. Some would call my excessive gun buying an addiction, I call it a passion. :D

At my worst I was buying them 25 at a time James, nobody here will give you grief about buying guns

Back in the days when a hundred bucks would buy three or four milsurps :)

Kenny G checking in. Just bought my first Mosin. It's in relatively good condition, but I have it torn down for thorough cleaning and stock refinishing before I take it out to the range.

Kenny, please give the board rules regarding refinishing milsurps a read, thank you.
