Well, I have always been a fan of Elmer Keith. If you dont know who he is you should do some reading on him............ he is the driving force behind alot of guns we have today as well as their cartriges. Back in the day Elmer had a colt bisley flattop revolver built to his specifications....... actually a series of them until they came up with the number five revolver. Chambered in 44 special with a 5 1/2" barrel. Many years ago I first saw that revovler and instantly fell in love with it and have wanted one like it ever since. Matter of fact its the wallpaper on my laptop
I have had many single action revolvers over the years and even ccw a Colt SAA in 45LC for a time. Well, I finally found what will be my new project and carry piece. A Ruger blackhawk bisley flattop in 44 special with a 5 1?2" barrel. I will take some ques from Elmers number 5 and build my own. Eventually I plan to have 75% engraving done as well as true ivory grips......... my new toy should be here next week hoepfully and I cannot wait....... just ahd to share. Here is a stock ruger pic. They build it on the 357 medium frame which is the same size as the original Colt SAA and use the bisley grip which is reminiscent of Elmers as well.
