I picked this little peace up for $60 the other day it is a Colt DA 41 , not sure on the year yet so any help there would be GOOD .
It is numbered 753 and on the base of the frame 21 415 (handle part )
The holster is marked 1941 and in good shape , the revolver not so good
A friend of mine arrived at the door and saw me playing with this , the first thing he said was " are you Brave enough to fire it ? "
Well what can you say .
My reaction to him was quite straight to the point , i was shocked .
My answer was DO YOU MEAN STUPID ENOUGH ?
This person also has a GUN :o
Anyway back to the colt ,
The gun defiantly has a few issues and I do not believe it would fire safely with out a lot of work :very mad: but it sure dose look great in the collection .

Let me know what you guy's think of this :D

What's the problem with it, it looks just like my 1917 Colt New Service, and my 1878 Colt DA, I have fired both of them with no problems at all. Great looking piece. :)

OK , so after some research and a couple of beers and a nice cigar , I have worked out what this is ( I think )
I believe this is a Colt 1889 Navy made between 1892 - 93 .
Dose anyone know where parts are available for this ??????
Or can anyone help me ?
I need the Spring for the Hand or complete hand with spring .

Numrich Arms if anybody would have them, they had parts for my 1917 years ago, however it took them several years to come up with them.

Without knowing the condition of the bore or the state of the timing and going just purely on what I am seeing in these pictures... yeah I'd put a few rounds down range with it after I cleaned it and inspected it. Looks like a solid little gun. Just looks like it spent too much time in that fabric holster over the last 72 years. When I see my friends leave their guns in soft cases, hard cases, or holsters of any kind I warn them that there is a good chance moisture could get trapped in there with the gun and negatively affect it. They usually just nod then stick it right back in the case.

I get the soft pile silicone impregnated cases from Cabelas, been using some over 14 years now and no problems. They are like a thick, gray gun sock. Been getting more expensive, double now what I used to pay and I need another six again.

Here's a thought
We or most of us have many items in our collections , Junk yard dog might have opened a can of worms here ,
How do we store them and how often do we clean them if not used ????
I am a fiddler ( In a nice way ) I have 56 Rifles and 18 hand guns, (six BP ) and as I said before , always fiddling .
The Black powder Guns I clean all the time and If I use corrosive ammo In any of the Rifles I will re-clean several times after use over 3-4 days .
Lets see what every one else dose

Interesting

It's easy, I buy a product called spray cosmoline, it's cosmoline in a can, spray it on wet and it dries to the typical cosmoline wax coating. Then I stick the piece into a heavy trash bag, tape it shut to keep air away from it, tag it so I know what's inside, and stick it in one of the vaults. I have had things stored 17 years like this, every now and again I open one up to use it, take pics, or just look it over, never had so much as a spot of mold on anything. Small stuff gets oiled up and stuck in a big USGI steel ammo can, air tight storage forever. Once in the cosmoline they do not get cleaned again until the cosmoline is ready to come off, a week or fifty years, doen't matter. I never store anything away unless it's been a few weeks or longer since I last shot it, then give the bore a going over one last time before the cosmoline.

When you have 10, or 20 rifles it's not that much work to oil them up every week or so in humid weather. Once it hits 40-50 then it starts to get to be a chore that eats up an anazing amount of time. When it reaches 75-100 then you now have a second full time job just keeping the dust off of them. 100-200, you can just forget about it unless you have a full staff to help you
