Shot the Nagant today

Post by Mike »

I knew we would be passing an outdoor range on a roadtrip today so I took a few guns with me. I only stopped for a few minutes but I put 20 rounds of commercial ammo through the Nagant. That is one soft shooting gun, I love it! It is also the only revolver I have that I will always shoot single action! I was shooting an 18" square target at 25 yards, double action I couldn't even hit that! It isn't too bad single action. It's definitely fun, I see a few more of them in my future.

Oh yeah, forgot the compulsory photo! Two of the four shooting positions on the range. It has 25, 50, 100 and 300 yard ranges, 3 tables on each and berms between each range so you don't have to wait for the others to stop shooting so you can walk downrange.

Wish I could have been there Mike. I often wondered how that gun would handle but was just too cheap to find out. LOL

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

And it's the one type of ammo that is still on shelves. I've seen tons of the prvi stocked up at places. Almost cheaper and easier to shoot the Nagants now.

I've been itching to get out to the sand pit and assassinate some pizza plates as well, but it's at least a half mile hike through the bush to the spot where I go and we still have lots of snow here. Still, we just had a small warm spell and a few inches melted away, so I've made up my mind to trudge out there next weekend {Unless there is another snowstorm during the week}, and try out one or two of my new acquisitions.

J&G says they have it for a $1.05 a box LESS.!!!!!!
Not sure what the shipping difference would be, depends on how much you buy.

I have tried to fire mine Double Action and just could not get the hammer all the way back. Ended up shooting Single Action. Kept all but one in the black at 15 yards

Looking forward to getting mine to the range also. I have 140 rds of surplus ammo coming and ave read it has more of a punch than the new commercial stuff.

You are correct. As an experiment at the range, I alternated surplus and commercial rounds in
the cylinder. BANG - pop - BANG - pop - BA....well, you get the idea.
The surplus ammo makes it feel like your shooting a real pistol........ 8-)
