My "Shi" is also November 1953. A32570, with matching butt-plate, Soviet non-matching floor-plate, no metal finish. The only markings I can find on the rifle, other than the barrel shank, is a very lightly struck "A" and "2" on the top of top of the tang. It has a decent stock, (comparatively) with a very dark finish, and no serial number, or other markings. This rifle has no importers markings or added serial.

It does have, carved in fine Chinese Characters, "Death to the Yankee Pigs", a big star, and is signed Ho Chi Minh. (just teasing)

Anybody ever heard of a 1952 dated T53? There's one for sale on a local gun site for $320 AUD, are they similar rarity to that of a 1943 M44?

I believe there is a early 53 start date on these. There has been great debate about finding these in the Korean war. As far as I know the start date is may of 53 I think.
1953.5 :D

Anyone know the significance of my 1955 T53 with no month date? Is that common?

(and no, it is not just worn off) :chuckles:

D, they must have gotten bored with placing the month by '55. My '55 has not month date either. It seems that they just couldn't settle on their markings. Maybe their congress was making the decisions.

They were still putting the month date on as late as November '54.

Oh good. I have one of those super rare "no month" T53's!

I'm just joking, I always wondered why mine didn't have the month. Maybe ran out of money or something.
