1941 Tula Mosin 91/30

Post by sreyemj »

I recently started paying attention to the Mosins in my local shops and happened into this 1941 Tula 91/30. It looks like a typical refurb but has what appears to be a Tula barrel and Izhevsk receiver. From what I understand this is typical for the 1941 Tulas. Any info about the rifle and it's value would be appreciated. It was priced the same as a batch of Izhevsk 91/30s so I doubt I over payed! The last picture of the bottom of the barrel has a massive amount of stamps.

Oh wow!!! You are VERY lucky!! 41 Tulas are the rarest 91/30s out there! One sold on gunbroker last week for over $700. All known examples have Izhevsk receivers and most seem to have the second 1 in the 1941 struck at a later date. I'm at work so I can't fill in the history of 41 Tulas but someone here will.
Please check out the dual Tula/ Izhevsk stamped '41 that I posted in the mosin showcase.

Congratulations!!!

Here is the recent GB auction. My theory on these is that leftover Tula barrels were shipped to the Izhevsk arsenal for completion, a little different than this seller's theory. I think they left Tula dated 194 and Izhevsk added the 1 also.

So no, you didn't overpay. :D

I saw yours, unfortunately mine doesn't have both stamps on the receiver. I have a feeling that running into this and an ex-sniper within a week may have used up my luck for the year!

The one that I posted with both stamps is one of only a couple documented that are like that. Even with only the Tula star stamp, yours is incredibly uncommon. The $700 one on GB is just like yours. The ex sniper 91/30s though are fairly common.

Congratulation sreyemj. Like you I found my 1941 Tula at the start of my Mosin collecting. I would have not known what I was looking at if not for web sites like this. Your rifle also has another unique and unknown characteristic. Does the stamp above the Tula star read something like BPA? If so I have only seen two other rifles with that and they are both 41 Tula's. Here is a picture of the rifles. Great find

The 41 Tula MO is great racerguy00. It was on gun broker some time ago and I copied the picture from that auction. Apologize for posting the picture if anyone here owns it, only using it as a reference. Can't remember what it sold for, but think it was much less than the recent 41 Tula auction that sold for over $700.

I'm surprised you didn't see that 41 Tula MO at auction racerguy00. I've been hanging out here for sometime and have enjoyed seeing the posts of your rare finds. :pop:

I don't know if it's BPA, looks more like BPД to me. Does anyone know what the double triangle symbol to the right of the Tula star is?

Thanks for the pic of the stamp, it is the same as the other two. Can't help you with the double triangle symbol. Thanks again

The triangle stamp, like almost all of the small markings on the Mosin is unknown. The only mark on that rifle that we do know for sure are the Tula arsenal marks , and the date, along with the little Tula star stamps on Tula parts.
