Want to See What a Wideners M44 Looks Like?
Just arrived today. These images are fresh out of the box, no cleaning or wiping down of the gun has happened yet. 1944 Izhevsk. Overall, very nice looking rifle.
I did notice that the fore end top wood is a forced match from another rifle.
All of the serial numbers match except the magazine floor plate is force matched.
Non-counterbored goodness!
The metal on this rifle is absolutely immaculate
The bore is immaculate, you could eat off of it. A few little bits of cosmo but this is the nicest of all of M44s as far as bore, matches the basically brand new Hungarian M44.
This rifle came with the Molot owners manual, oil can, Mosin tool, cleaning rod accessories. No sling.
I am very happy with this rifle, it was a good value for $199.00. I may swap out the mismatch wood with another of my M44s but overall, I like this a bit better than the SOGs because it isn't counterbored and the barrel is cleaner. But all of them were a good deal really. $179.00 for the SOGs and $199.00 for the Wideners. Yeah, I know, you all bought 'em when they were $69.00 at Big 5 a few years ago but for 2013, these were a good deal.

More than likely all the numbers are forced matched, which is normal for a refurb. They can be restamped, electorpenciled, crossed out and renumbered, etc. Unless the font on the numbers mateches the barrel shank exactly, its forced matched. Nice carbine!

Very nice looking rifle. If you don't mind what do they charge to ship?

Nice rifle. The handguard being a lighter color is the way some end up after refurbishment and is perfectly acceptable. If you start changing things around you are changing the rifles history. I'd leave it as it came. These rifles are put together from many different rifles at the arsenal and force matched to the barrel.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I have quite a few M44s, you don't think I should try to find a better color match?WeldonHunter wrote:Nice rifle. There is no prize for matching colors. Leave it the way it came.

The handguard is just bleached from getting more sun...

Nothing wrong with the color.
