Good Day,

My name is Josh, I am a newly retired soldier living in Edmonton, Alberta. I have a passion for all things concerning Russian small arms, and so far this forum is awesome. To get around our perverse gun laws up here north of the "Maple Curtain", I collect (and game with) Russian airsoft rifles, customizing them to be as accurate as possible to their real steel counterparts for the purposes of collecting.

Welcome to the board Josh, however bad we have it here in the US you have it worse up north, but compared to Australia, or the UK we both live in a country with no gun laws

Hello all, new member here.

I'm a retired Marine, been shooting all my life, and just bought my first Mosin Nagant. It seems like this is a pretty good community here, and I'm looking forward participating as soon as I have something bright to say (it may be a while).

Hi all,

I bought my first Mosin , a 91/30 (1939), just a few months ago. I am most appreciative of the wealth of information to be found here. Other milsurps I own include a Swiss K31 (1952) and a Romy-G AK-47 (1981). I had a fun time building the Romy with a little help from a friend.

Welcome to the forum bndrillo :welcome2: There's some good vids on youtube for setting the firing pin protrusion and checking the headspace. Post some pics of your mosin and fellow members will be able to tell you all about it. I believe there are some sticky vids here on the forum, for the above mentioned checks also.

Checking in from Montana. New to the forum. New to the Mosin Nagant but admit...I gots da bug!.

My son gave me a 1943 Izhevsk 91/30 for father's day and the rifle fascinated me. Just picked up a 1927 Tula hex receiver ex-Dragoon so I guess that makes me a collector now. :)

Hi, thanks for being here I'm not sure if we're a fit since i'm not a collector but at least I will benefit greatly from your knowledge. While I'm posting can you take a look at my photos of some cracks on my Mosin stock, I know that wood cracks but can these cracks be fixed easily and safe to shoot.Again Thanks.
:D

Welcome.

Cracks in the stocks are common. What I do is use super glue in the bottles with the long pour nozzle and pour it in the crack. It will wick in but you can also carefully open up the crack to allow it to go in better. Then apply pressure until it sets. Apply enough times to repair, reinforce and fill the crack.

I only do this inside the stock where it cannot be seen.

Welcome to the board, a few drops of crazy glue and then clamp the stock with a wood clamp until it sets and you should be fine. Cracks are common in rifles this old.

Just got back from Gander Mountain with my first Mosin...

I called 'em before I went over to see what they had in stock, the counter guy said, "Looks to be 12-15 of 'em out there..."

So, off I went...

The second one I picked up, I bought... it's a 'Hex'... (is that the correct term here?) 1932 date stamp... from Isveck... Ishvex...Izhvex... heck... it's not a "Tula"...(how do ya pronounce "Izhevsk"... just like it sounds?)

So now it's all apart on my desk... gettin' the cosmo out of it...fun stuff...

By the by... anyone here (besides me) own a Russian motorcycle? I've got an '07 Ural GearUp Arctic to go along with my new noisemaker...
