Cruddy, how close are we? What is your serial number?

Serial on mine is 10083 so obviously a replacement stock. Barrel dated 1927.

Ahh, still a very high number for 1927. How big was the first order, I had though only 10,000.

I have seen 2 different numbers for the initial order of barrels from SIG, 10,500 and 10,050. I also heard that the first 6000 were made into ski troopers and I have heard that 6000 out of the first batch were made into ski troopers.

Well, I am going to assume that the 2nd number is correct as your's is 1927 and is above 10,050.

Exactly. I just tore the rifle down just to make sure I wasnt confused with another rifle and it is 100% <27> marked. There is also what appears to be a 5 digit serial stamped into the right side of the buttstock but it is unreadable. Interesting enough, the back of the buttplate is marked "83" leading me to believe that the stock could be the original stock.
Has anyone ever seen a 1 or 2 digit M28 serial? Did M28 serials start at serial #1?

Nice rifles calfed. That M39 looks pristine! Does it have the original stock with Civil Guard cartouche? Also, it is very uncommon for M28's to have bores that good.

Thanks shmlnaa

The stock on the M39 is original and has the "42" Civil Guard cartouch.

Got this at an on-line sale earlier this year.

Metal is in good shape. Unfortunately, some nitwit polyurethaned the stock :(

Bore looks decent, Range report to follow

Anyone venture a guess as to bore diameter on this one?
