Hi all new guy here from Ohio. Been collecting Mosins for about 2 years.have 6 M39s and 6 Ex Dragoons. Only collect 91/30s from the 1920s. Hope to learn a lot from this forum .will post pics when I figure out how to do it.

New to the forum, but not to Mosin Nagants. Thought I'd better make a post before my account gets deactivated.


Here's a couple of Finnish beauties for your viewing pleasure...1944 Tikka M91/30 and 1942 VKT M39

New old guy here, 68, my first rifle was MN 90/31 back in 1958 for$12which I took a part until I could do it blind folded. Sold it in in a year or two (no ammo avail then) and convinced they were not much waited until about 10 years ago when I bought an M44 brand new for$125 to shoot and loved shooting it. Bought a Finn Hex with a Valmet bbl next for about $78 and enjoyed shooting it and then a fire took everything but the Finn loaned to a friend, I now have a matching M44 Hun in excellent shape a 1953 and a Tula covered with marks, 90/31 force together round 1939 electric penciled but with a mint bore, I took it out about month ago to break it in in near100 degree heat shot about 20 light ball surplus, changed targets and fired a 10 shot group where nine were about quarter size and one 1/4 inch away, at 25 yards. I have never done that with any firearm. I don't know if it was the extremely hot bbl that allowed such performance. Next time I shot it at longer distances and I knew my eyes didn't live up to the open sights. Love the old mil surp and only buy what will shoot. This sight is a great resource. locomotiveguy

New to the forum, Got my 39 Tula and a Type 53 dropped off by UPS at the house about a month ago. Having to do a little work on the chamber of the 53 since the rounds are not chambering and have some fairly deep marring. I found a thread here that gave me some good ideas how to fix the problem. This is Bill from Florida. Got my first mosin Nagant M91/30 last week.
Cleaned it up and shot it today! Right on the Black at 100 yards on first shot!
Then a problem....will ask about it later.

Hello from North Carolina everyone ! I'm new to collecting. I was recently gifted a Westinghouse M91. I have what I think is some pre-1880 Jager style ammo that I want an appraisal on....not much only about 11 rounds. I'll post some pictures of the head stamp soon. I also own two re-arsenalled Carbines, an M38 and an M44. Also a M91/30, and have another Tula M91/30 on the way. I love shooting these guns. All of my guns are shooters.

Hello all Got my first M-N today from an Ex Navy man who picked it up in 1945 in Japan From what I have gleaned from this site its a M91 Dragoon Izhevsk arsenal Dated 1916r. all cartouches present KAB marked curved rear sights. Serial number 87262 floor plate number 73199. Has what I can tell early barrel band band I say as one is missing. On the hex agon breach area is at the top the Imperial russian eagle stamp about a half inch lower a number "3" stamp. On the forward area of the handguard is brass. All major parts have the bow and arrow mark of previous arsenal. I want to shoot it are they safe?? Any ideas of value I oiled it and pulled the bolt bore seems good oil and brushed it cleaned up good. This gun is quite elegant and seems like a natural shooter love the long slender wood stock and upper arm. Hope to hear from some of you.

MOST MOSINS I HAVE HANDLED HAD THEIR BATTLE SCARS OR RE-ARSENALED PARTS, SOME WERE PRETTY GOOD AND SOME LEAST TO BE DESIRED. WHAT IMPRESSED ME THE MOST WAS NATASHA'S TRIGGER, TIGHT NOT SHAKY SHORT SQUEEZE OFF 4 LBS AND BANG. I DECIDED NOT TO PUT MY TIMNEY IN IT. THE STOCK HAS A FEW MINOR DINGS SHIPPING OR CRATE MARKS. THE BLUING IS NEAR PERFECT. THIS WAS A SPECIAL BUILT RIFLE, YOU CAN TELL BY THE LOOK AND FEEL. IT WASN'T A QUICK CUT UP OR MACHINED RIFLED. I SHOULD KNOW I HAVE BEEN AROUND MACHINE SHOPS ALL MY LIFE. NOW A LOT OF WELL INFORMED SPECIALISTS THINK THE 59S ARE USED HACKED UP 91/30S I HAVE TO DISAGREE.
