I traded an Italian over and under 12 guage that I didn't like. I traded it for 500 rounds of 7.62x54r.

I have sold two guns, a Mossberg 500 and an SKS and regret them both. I will pad my collection though with a few extra Mosins which I will buy specifically to sell or trade later, to upgrade the collection. If I have a really nice example that shoots really well, I can justify to myself giving a few up to have one shining example.

I've sold a few over the years.... I regret letting every one of them go.

Someone around here once sold me a real nice 1943 M44 with DDR markings  I love that carbine, some of my best milsurps were found right here on the forum.

I too have obtained a few from board members who were either "trading up" , selling off or getting rid of stuff that they had 'too many' of.

Sell or trade only when I am upgrading the type of firearm, my personal policy. A few personal bouts with unemployment over the years have decimated a promising collection several times in my life, a few I will never be able to replace for want of quality of the example or the continuing inflated prices of some models. I have had to tell my wife within the last several years "the gunshops closed" once I sold something to help out with making ends meet seems it became a given that my collection was expendable and frugal living was no longer needed. Only buy what you would want to keep forever in the first place, unless you get a great buy and it's delegated to trading stock, otherwise only sell to upgrade.
