A quick google search shows that there are more snake bites confirmed in Montana than any other state. Along with the highest fatality rate due to the rural areas being so far from proper medical attention.

We ain't got no stinkn snakes in Montana....well, I don't think so anyway. Besides, any self respecting grizz would chew them up before going to sleep so I'll be fine. Besides, just in case my sleeping companion gets nasty I'll bring along a Ruger 10/22 for protection.

You better use rat shot. Solid rounds hit them and bounce them around before killing them. Hopefully they bounce away and not on you.
