Lot of words stamped on this receiver

Post by sharpenit »

Can anyone decipher the words and symbols on this receiver? I get that it was manufactured in 1925, I know that CCCP means USSR, and I think the star means it was made in Tula. What about the rest? Thanks.

Tula Arsenal under the communists, nice ex dragoon rifle, and welcome to the forum.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Bingo.
There were 3 styles of that stamp: early, mid and late. All used exclusively in the 1920's.

Have you taken it apart to clean it yet? You might find more cool markings along with stamps in wood stock. Don,t forget to check head space before you shoot it to be safe. They don't cost much. :welcome: JGC

First I've heard of this. Is this something most people do? I see a NO-GO gauge costs $23 to $27. Does that sound right? Thanks.
