P-26

Post by Jumperwire »

Here's another old M91 that I was lucky enough to stumble across. I posted this on the old forum, but since we are new here, I thought I would post it again. Also, it gave me a chance to play with the effects on my Droid Incredible2. :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:

Sweet. 1897 Izhevsk. I pulled my 43 Tikka M91 apart today and it is a 1917 Izhevsk. It has a 1 piece Tula interrupter/ejector.

Would that stock happen to have a plugged hole along the bottom of the buttstock in the toe area? Looks like it might have some Austrian heritage.

By the way deoxys987, I almost forgot to say welcome to the forum! I know what you mean about the P26, I had never heard of them either, and it was maybe a year or two ago when millman posted his on the forum, and after reading all about it I wanted one too. mostly because of the intense labor that must have gone into it to bore out a rifle barrel and resleeve it, giving it a brand new bore. Mayber it would not be as big a deal now days with all of the amazing equipment available, but that surely wasn't the case in the 20's. It just goes to show the incredible pride in workmanship, kind of like the stock repairs you see on many Mosin Nagant rifle stocks, and these just fascinate me. Well anyway I am still wanting one but have never seen one, except for one that I found on auction once, but it climbed above my pay grade. Again welcome to the forum and feel free to ask away. We love friendly conversation about guns, and we have topics available about other firearms too. As a matter of fact there are black powder guys here, old west guys, Mauser guys, shotgun and smallbore rifle guys, and even some good stuff over in the off-topic area if you just want to shoot the breeze.

Well, yes. That is what I mean... about the plugged hole, anyway. It's not often that the rear post hole is not filled, though. Seriously cool! :o
