gunshow haul

Post by dou44 »

i went to the knoxville gunshow today with my son in law. we found a dealer that had a unopened crate of 91/30's. everyone in it was a tula with the years 37-43 and all in vg shape.he was letting us take everyone out and look at them.i had found a 37 i had set aside untill we got to the bottom and just about the last one out was a 43 tula red letter so i ended up buying it for $119 out the door and a case of russian lb for $150 otd.i all so picked up a cleaning rod for a m44 to resale.son in law found a nice bsw coded k98 that a guy was walking around with and traded his sig 226 for it.the good thuing is that i am going to let him have one of my k98]s later in trade on the bsw. one of the better shows we have been to this year.one dealer wanted $200 each for his 91/30's. it just seem's like i keep finding the red letter guns .

gunshow haul

And you just posted another red letter you bought didn't you?

If you don't mind me asking what is so special about the red letters? I mean I get that they are rare but why Is the lettering red?

Oh yeah, good deal. Wish the gun shows around here would have something like that.

i got one in yesterday that i bought off another forum.i do not know why they used the red letters but i just like them and think they may be worth more some day. and i all so like knowing that i find some of them in new crates of unopened rifles like this one.the red just seems to stand out when you see it in there some where,i also do not pay any extra for them when i find them so that is a extra bonus for me.this one was the only red letter in the crate and the whole show.

All this red letter talk is gonna create a new collecting niche. I met a friend recently for a day of shooting at our church men's retreat and his new refurb had the red letters and sight #'s. I said hey nice Mosin, and he said yeah, the red letters look cool. I couldn't agree more. Very cool 8-)
