Model 28-30? She's a beauty! I always forget about these models. It's a m28 with m39 sights. A real treasure.

Hlavinka's got a point there. The M39 is just a slightly modified m28/30.Hlavinka wrote:A M39 Has M28-30 Sights! I'm partial to the M28-30'sbunkysdad wrote:Model 28-30? She's a beauty! I always forget about these models. It's a m28 with m39 sights. A real treasure.

That's a real peach.
I still need to get a 28/30... One of the best Mosin versions ever.

Few differences in the forestock and in the front barrel band between m28-30 and M39.
The first M28-30's were M28's with the rear sights changed (If I remember right!).

Yes, the first to receive the rear sight were M28's that were upgraded to M28/30's.dolk wrote:Few differences in the forestock and in the front barrel band between m28-30 and M39.

Ron, I found a M28/30 leaning against a table at a flea market some 17 years ago. He wanted $75, but admitted he was selling it because the bolt was always hard to open after he fired it. I pointed out a minor crack by the toe of the stock, the overall filthy condition of the rifle, and the fact that he had been there two days trying to sell it and would be packing it home again in an hour. Settled on $45, and I took it home, neither seller or myself knew what it was past some sort of Russian rifle. Glued the crack, cleaned off the dust, and as cleaning the chamber is just part of what I do when cleaning a rifle I had no problems with the bolt in well over several thousand rounds fired in that rifle. Keep your eye open and you may find one the same way Nice rifle
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
