I've been trying to get help identifying this thing but it's been a pain so far with little progress. It was my father's and I inherited it. He generally chose higher end vintage rifles and had some connections that had gained him access to some really nice pics of American service weapons. The thing is I don't think he was a huge fan of the mosin and in reality he might have only got it because I mentioned it before when we were discussing sniper rifles of the time. So there's the possibility it isn't anything special at all. I want to think he's said it's originsted one of the more sought after countries. But I don't remember where. Any help would be appreciated.
The scope on it is just an older leupold scope he put on it. There is a 91/30 scope laying around but it's brand new practically and has no markings from any issuer or anything so I'm assuming it has to be a refurb. So idk what to think
1940 91/30, is this a sniper?

PU snipers weren't built until 1942 so it's not a legit PU. The serial number has 91/30S in it, classic seems to have put an S behind the 91/30 on rifles that they built into PU snipers before legit PU imports became fairly common.

It's a fake.
Wrong year rifle
No CN or CS sniper marks on the Tula barrel shank.
Wrong mount (not even a reproduction but after market)
Wrong Scope (not even a reproduction but after market)

That would probably explain what I would assume is this production scope. I tried to upload pics if it the other night but it was 5mb files. Just retook these. So the next question is, what would this be worth? Being a sound shooter, is there any value to it at all?

Fake scope
Fake mount
Value is the sum of it's parts. The rifle has lost value because it has been drilled and the stock cut away.
Unfortunately.

Idk what the sum of parts means? Its still a rifle that shoots, i was wanting to restock it and make it a more practical shooter. So that helps that decision but someones interested in buying it and i have no idea how to value it.

Rifle not original sniper, 1942 or newer is a must
