Morning,
Been reading but have not found the answer so I thought I would post.
I just got a IZHEVSK M44 made in 1944. Previous owner tossed everything in the garbage the rifle came with when he bought it. I only have the cleaning rod.
Is there a list of the correct accessories that came with this rifle?
round or square bottle?
Which ammo pouches?
What sling?
Anything else?

Something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325551262072?c ... a354fc8361
The sling in that is a reproduction, but the rest is correct.

- Green canvas sling.
- Ammo pouches are easy to find and inexpensive. Most will be from the 1950's - 1960's time period and are made from Kirza which is an artificial leather material.
- Tool kit and round double oiler.
All of these you can find on eBay or elsewhere online and they don't cost much. Some sellers will include all these items in a set or you can purchase them individually.

Re: M44 Accessories
I must have maybe 40 of those "kits".
Don't mean much to me either.
I toss them all in a big box with the bayonet!

I really enjoy collecting the accessories. I'm close to having 100 ammo pouches Not sure why but those Mosin Nagant ammo pouches are some of my favorite to collect. They're usually in good surplus condition and inexpensive compared to other pouches.
Re: M44 Accessories
on the ammo pouches....
have you been able to sort them by origin, style, material, age, etc....?
there is likely a story behind each one of those.....

Re: M44 Accessories
Someplace deep in the storage loft there is a box containing 100 Mosin cleaning kits bought at a time when such was maybe a buck each. I recall they came sealed in plastic with pouch and tools. I know I have it, but I haven't had hands on it in maybe a decade or more. This on top of what came with the refurb rifles, sometimes there would be extra in the box's. Double ammo pouches, extra slings or cleaning kits. I remember buying a Finn built 91/30 from a now long gone dealer who filled the empty space in the shipping box with extra Soviet Mosin stuff, oil bottles, slings, kits, just to get them out of his shop, and he knew I liked that kind of crap. All that helped outfit all the Romanian import issued 91/30's I picked up that came with nothing. It was all just about giveaway stuff at one time, even the bayonets were just a few dollars for the 91/30's.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Yes, I've been able to sort them by year, material, etc. It was a fun project to do and I photographed any markings on the inside as well.
