Woohoo........ We have tags!!

Post by Sonny »

Well junior was drawn for a bull moose tag and I was drawn for a cow elk tag in the same zone. 8-)

We were drawn in a zone about four hours north of us so might not get up there to scout very often but the good news is jr. lived up that way about twenty years ago . In the five years he was up there he shot three bull elk so he knows the area a bit but oil,gas and lumber activity can change the landscape pretty fast.

Anyway the last week of sept. will find us up in the Saddle Hills area south of Spirit River.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Went up to do a little scouting last weekend but holy smokes we are having another heatwave, not as bad as last year but still damn hot.

Did see one cow moose, four whitetails. one black bear and two mulie bucks. Also seen some buffalo but the rancher would be pissed off if we shot one.
Also found a moose gut pile and head, season doesn't open until sept 24th so it might be a poacher but we found it right next to a gravel road so I kinda think we can rule that out. It was most likely our native (cough) friends. They have the right to subsistence hunt year round and where they want. This is bullshit but that's another story. :very mad:

The leaves are turning colour and the ducks and geese will soon start to fly south.
