Fattening them up for the cat, good idea, store bought cat food is expensive.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Great pics, great camera work too, to catch these little birds in mid flight.

The past couple of days they have been fighting over the feeder. Haven't been able to get a good shot at them doing that.

A cat could never get one of these birds... I remember when I used to feed the hummingbirds. One day a hornet was on the feeder taking a drink and when the hummingbird arrived they had a Mexican standoff in mid air. One would quickly advance towards the other and the other would move back in a flash. This went back and forth until the hornet decided to leave.
