Four filled holes?
Four filled holes?
My 1943 Izhevsk ex-sniper has four filled holes in the receiver, not two, and they look like they're further apart than usual. Does that indicate a particular type of scope, or a wartime re-scoping, or something like that?

Re: Four filled holes?
4 holes. Two for the screws and two for the pins.
On a 43, it was only used as a PU sniper. So any other holes are not from the Arsenal.
Should be spaced pretty far apart.

Re: Four filled holes?
On a 43 Izhevsk it might also be a PEM sniper. Between the haulting of production of the SVT40 sniper in 41, and the start up production of the PU sniper in Oct of 43 the Russians restarted production of the PEM sniper ( for about 6 months iirc) . They are not very common and are somewhat collectable. The hole spacing on the reciever is different from the PU, but still requires 4 holes. To my knowledge there are no original configuration snipers in the wild, so anyone that collects them by the years has to "resniper" them to own one. The ones made by Izhevsk should have the barrel shank scope number still on it , just like the there PU's do. These are the 1st snipers Izhevsk produced as up till that time all snipers where produced by the Tula works.
The 1st pic is the PEM mount hole spacing, the 2nd is a PU
