1944 Tulas

Post by vitaminboy »

I was wondering about a recent Tula M44 I picked up. There seems to be quite a bit more markings on the receiver than on my other two 1944 Tulas. This is my second M44 and I also have a 44 M38. Those two are fairly straightforward and didn't have much in the way of extra markings. Can anyone help with the markings on this one? Are they simple refurb marks? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, refurbishment marks galore.

Although there is that special Stalin secret honor guard partial 8 stamp in the crotch of the Tula star... That one is rare as Hens Teeth. :chuckles: :chuckles:

Sorry...

But seriously, a nice refurb Tula M44. I would like to see the M38 though... That's one I have yet to find. :angry4:

Except for the "HM" which was added by the importer, all the rest are pretty normal for a post war rebuilt ( multiple times) carbine.

The model 38 looks to be MO marked 1941/42 . Pretty common to find a 91/30 MO marked. Don't see as many carbines MO stamped.

The most current one you picked up looks to have been through two refurbishments. The H.M. above the serial number is the importers translation of the serial number prefix. Interesting piece. Never really know what stampings you will see on these... Cool gun though..
