My latest Mauser, what do you think ? sling is from a K98 dated 44 which came with the rifle. Saw back bayonet is a J.H.Becker made, undated.
The regimental disc gives the unit as, Bayern. 1st Pionier-Bataillon, 4th Kompanie, Waffe Nr. 208 - so a Bavarian Pioneer unit.

Wow, I like!
Is that trench magazine the real deal? You've got lots of nice goodies with that one. Love the bayonet, too.
Very nice

Re: Mauser Gew98 1907
Ref the Trench Mag, I'm not sure, someone is going to know... posted pictures on another forum last year the jury is still out on that one..It's dated 1939 plus other stamps...
Thanks for the nice comments...
I'm very happy with the rifle.. fantastic barrel with strong rifling, trigger pull is so smooth.
If only it could talk, all that history in 105 years.

I have seen repro mags that have flat sides on them and don't have the ridges like that one. But that is all i know.

Sweeet Mauser. Cool looking bayonet. Never new about trench magazines. All over a great package.
Re: Mauser Gew98 1907
Exactly! I remember that now from the one the LGS had. He told me the real trench mags had ribs in them. His didn't and the pin was also totally different from Neil's. From what I read most of the pins don't survive. A real trench mag is work BIG bucks.desdem12 wrote:I have seen repro mags that have flat sides on them and don't have the ridges like that one.
