I'm not sure if it is backwards.... I guess I'm not seeing what you are talking about. Does anyone else ?

Now that I'm looking, it looks like the ''38 is on different from the other two. The bevel faces forward.
Off to the house to look at mine...

I guess I'm not sure what is meant by a sight "block". I assumed it was the spring loaded lock for the elevation. Mine look like the ones in the pictures above. The ones that aren't beveled on both edges and only beveled on one side, the bevel faces forward.
What do you mean, BostonMike? Do you mean the sight base? Maybe I need another cup of coffee.

It does tend to grow exponentially. Don't fight it.

Very nice trio. 8-) 8-) 8-) They do tend to multiply. I used the 'they all look alike' thing for awhile but, it's hard for me to say it's the same one you saw last week when the brown van shows up. It's nice you have a local mosin supplier. Not too much but pawn shops near me and occasional gun shows.

That's exactly what I am talking about. The bevel on the spring loaded slider.

On your '38, it looks like the beveled side is closest to front of rifle, while on the '26, the bevel is near the rear.

All rifles I've seen have been like your '38. My own '38 is like that as well

I think on the other ones the bevel is on both sides. That is what I saw on mine and you can just see it in his pics. Maybe having it on one side only was a time saving move.
