Rarest & most uncommon Mosin Nagant in your Collection
Re: Rarest & most uncommon Mosin Nagant in your Collection
Not super-rare but unusual. 1916 with 1942 barrel and intact eagle. Also 1897 Finned-M91 and 1917 passed-around M91.

There seems to be very few of these produced. One of the most uncommon I own....
I do not always fire a rifle, but when I do....it is a Mosin I choose.....
Re: Rarest & most uncommon Mosin Nagant in your Collection
Second most rare Mosin I own.....
This one is pretty uncommon, even with it's flaws, many long time collectors have never handled one.

I thought I had posted on this thread before but I can't find it if I did. Plus it is time for an update. So, in no particular order...

My rarest Mosin would be a toss up between my Civilian Sales M28(around 20 or so documented) and my B barreled M91 on a round receiver(around 15 or so documented)

My only "rare' entries are a laminated Carbine and an RGUNS PU Sniper not real noteworthy, hope to score something worthy of that title someday.

The most rare one in my collection would be one with a For Sale sign on it, it's so rare I haven't even seen it.

I gave hope of you selling. I wanted one of those Lithgows, but now I truly believe you are taking them with you.Junk Yard Dog wrote:The most rare one in my collection would be one with a For Sale sign on it, it's so rare I haven't even seen it.

With most things packed away at multiple locations, I have no idea were they even are at the moment.

Birch for the Russian and Finn stocks, American black walnut for the ones made here.

An update to this since I posted it. I just added a 1897 Sestroryetsk to my meager collection ! A few pics are in this thread. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=30426JoeR wrote:My only "rare' entries are a laminated Carbine and an RGUNS PU Sniper not real noteworthy, hope to score something worthy of that title someday.

I have only seen 2 Sestroryetsks in the wild. One was owned by a fellow forum member, and the other was a 91/38 with the Sestroryetsk logo sticking out from under a bubba drill and tap scope mount. Reminds me of the time I saw a Remington with beautiful markings, looked new from the base of the reciever to the end of the cut off barrel.millman wrote:I have only seen 2 Sestroryetsks in the wild. Not the rarest or anything, but not super common either. 1943 Tikka round receiver M91/30
Re: Rarest & most uncommon Mosin Nagant in your Collection
Yes, I agree not too common at all. Very nice, I would be proud to own it.

Just added this yesterday. 1937 M27. There is an estimated 638 produced. Definitely rare.
