8mm Lebel ammo

Post by Siam »

A guy at local gun show had a full box of 8mm Lebel ammo. Box has tear on 1 side. Anyone interested and I will go back to gun show and pick it up if still there. Add exact shipping. If I have to go back tomorrow, add $5 to cover new entry fee.

Commercial ammo from Privi is OK, but watch out for original French military stuff. They didn't use corrosive primers and the ammo has exceeded it shelf life by decades. Most will be dud, others may hangfire, good for components. I have 1000 or so rounds 1949 dated stuff imported back in the 80's that is good for components today.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Thanks for the info. Yes it s the original stuff in Lebel labeled box. I don't have a rifle but would be happy to pick it up for someone who wants it.

Didn't notice if it was surplus or not, tho box looked like commercial manufacture, no military markings.
