1915 Izhevsk in a stock with older features.

Post by racerguy00 »

Happy to have picked this one up from a fellow member yesterday. I was lacking an m91 that didn't have the crossbolt update and this one fit the bill.

1915 Izhevsk balkan import. The stock is dated 1909 under the buttplate and lacks any crossbolt whatsoever. Stock is really nice on this one. The nosecap was either broken off or removed, but long ago. Some paint or sealant was used to cover the bare wood I that spot. Nice bore, red paint on the stock like many of these imports have. Peened eagles. No handguard but on these that doesn't bug me at all. I've seen photos of these in use in Romania with no handguard in place anyways.

IIRC it has been said to be a prefix done on Romanian rifles. Let me see if I can find the post.

Looks like a German capture mark on the stock as a bonus. Nice find!
