Home on the range!! 200 yards or 182.88 meters

Post by jimpierce7 »

So much fun!! Of course, I'm the only one there with iron sights. Several very good shooters there. It was such a blast. I took my M39, newest 91/30 and the '40 and '42 VKT M91s.
I shot the steel a lot. I even had an audience for a minute. First round I hit steel (8" round) once with the 91/30 and only missed a couple times with the M91s and missed once with the M39. I forgot I don't have to adjust for distance. Sheesh. The 91/30 was the only one I had to aim a little higher for.

You know, 200 yards is way the hell out there!! My 8" targets just are like, tiny dots!! The M91s need to be sighted in for that distance, they both shoot a bit to the left.

The 91/30 was all over the place but I settled down with it eventually.

M39 you ask? Flawless. Not me though, but the gun is.

the rifles of choice.

all target pics are first round. Second round was tightened up a bit with the 91/30 but the others performed the same. :D

Nice countryside. And you are correct those targets really look small.

200 yards is child's play. I shot a 600 yard match last month using my '43 Izhevsk with the stock irons. Didn't place or show but got a respectable 169-1x out of a 200 possible. Not too bad for a 70 year old rifle and 61 year old eyes.

Sure wish it wasn't so far to go to a long range. There is on in Sacramento that goes out to 1000 yards. Of course the targets grow the farther out it goes. I really need to get to the 200 yard range more than once every year and a half. lol

Promising indeed!! My M39 shoots much better than I do. :chuckles:

I let the guy next to me shoot a few times and he surprised himself ringing the gong.
